  • The Millstone Fund, which recognizes the best interdisciplinary paper given at the annual conference and supports two yearly research travel grants.

  • The Love Prize, which recognizes the best paper on the history of France and the Francophone world before 1800 presented by a graduate student at the annual conference.

  • The Gargan Prize, which recognizes the best graduate student paper at the annual conference.

  • The Edgar Newman Fund, which supports the costs for international speakers at the annual meeting.

  • The Tyler Stovall WSFH Mission Prize, which recognizes teachers and scholars who are doing outstanding work to combat structural inequalities in the field of French History, in the profession, and in their home institutions, broadly construed. By celebrating individuals who are developing tools and practices that challenge inequity, oppression, and discrimination, not only through research but also through teaching, mentoring, and professional leadership, the WSFH Mission Prize proudly signals the Western’s belief that such work is an essential part of what it means to be an exemplary citizen and educator.

  • You can also directly support our graduate students by providing earmarked funds for them for the next conference.
